Dick York was born in Seattle, WA. in 1928. At the age of 4, he, his older brother and sister moved with his widowed mother to Vancouver B.C., where he attended school. He lived there until he returned to the States to join the US Merchant Marine in 1944. In 1950 he returned to Vancouver where he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Two years later, burdened for the transients who roam the streets of our cities, he went to Eugene, OR, where he was instrumental in starting the Shield of Faith [rescue] Mission, later renamed the Eugene Mission. In 1956 he married Darlene in Vancouver, and she joined him in the mission ministry, which, by then had expanded to include radio, evangelism, and evangelism training.
In 1957 the rescue mission became Eugene Mission, while Dick and Darlene continued The Shield of Faith ministry, carrying the Gospel overseas, and establishing a missionary training program that has, since then, been used by the Lord in several nations to prepare Christian Nationals to fulfill the Great Commission.
Dick and Darlene have a family that includes six sons, seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They now live in Bend, Oregon, U.S.A. where Dick teaches in the SFMI Missionary Training Program, and from where he travels to other cities and countries to conduct seminars, speak in conferences, and encourage missionaries on the field.

Probably the most significant thing in the unfolding of day-today events is the revelation that comes as a result. Of course there is a certain segment of the population that seems to grasp little of the meaning of what goes on around them, so, regardless of what they experience, they seem no more enlightened than if it had never happened. However, that is not the normal case. God created man with an astuteness that is not common in the rest of his creation. Man is able to observe, to analyze, to evaluate, to consider and to decide according to his rational deliberation. All of this relates to the fact that God created man in his own image.

| Truth or Tradition Does it Matter?
In the Old Testament, when Israel disobeyed God and followed after the idols of the surrounding nations, God was longsuffering. Sometimes generations passed without any apparent manifestation of God's displeasure. The people mistakenly interpreted this to signify God's approval--even his endorsement--in spite of his word to the contrary. God's mind is revealed in his word, the Bible. As their disobedience continued, God's displeasure increased until their sin had to be judged. God is the same yesterday and today and forever. We must not mistake his longsuffering for approval of those things that we have borrowed from the heathen world and have fashioned into "Christian" traditions. There are many of them. And judging them by the word, we must conclude that they are the way of the heathen, which we are admonished not to learn. This book takes a look at our festive traditions in the light of the Word. Where did they come from? Are they authored by God?

| Law’s End
The Galatian Letter
It seems evident that many in the early church misunderstood the distinction between law and grace, because Paul touches on that subject to some degree in almost every one of his epistles. Also in our time there are many believers that are not clear about the relationship of the Old Testament law to the New Testament believers.. So it is understandable that Christians in those early days could be deceived to think that keeping the laws constituted righteousness.
Even today there are some that teach that believing on Jesus plus keeping the Ten Commandments is the way to salvation; and that eating right according to the Old Testament, and celebrating the feasts of Israel pleases God and contributes to holiness. Many, on the other hand, would see these things as evidence of unbelief in the finished work of Christ. So who’s right? What would the apostle Paul say about this subject?
We know what Paul would say because he said it to the Galatians.

| Thou Therefore My Son…
Training The Lord’s Servant
Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy
The Apostle Paul is facing his final hours. What was he thinking? We know what he was thinking because he laid it out clearly in these, his last words to Timothy, who was being left behind to face the hostile attitudes of a world in which even the religious would forsake the truth to embrace teachers that would tickle their ears and teach them what they wanted to hear. Paul gave clear instruction.
Because Timothy’s world is our world, Paul’s instruction is timely and relevant to us as well. These are the facts we are to know; the instructions we are to heed; and the example we are to follow. You need to read this book.
